Anthoine Hubert - Chammiponnat GP3 Series - 2017 - Monza

Anthoine Hubert signed his third podium of the season in Monza and goes up to 4th place in the GP3 championship, not far from the 3rd place. After the first half of the session dedicated to the learning of the famous Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Anthoine put his name at the top of the timesheet and played the leading roles with his ART Grand Prix teammates. He concludes his discovery of Monza with the 3rd fastest time. "Everything went like clockwork! I didn’t know the circuit and even if it’s not difficult to memorize, we must find how to go for the last hundredths. I was confident I could reach them in qualifying. "

Qualifying session cancelled
Meteo : Torrential rain

The torrential rain that hit Monza delayed the Formula 1 practice and cancelled those of GP3. The starting grid of the 11th round of the season was therefore determined by the results of free practice. "Getting up at 6.30am, spending the day on the circuit preparing, concentrating and considering all the assumptions of cancellation or retention of qualifications, was not the most enjoyable experience. In the end, leaving from the third place of the grid was positive even if I would have liked to drive under the rain. Fortunately, the free practice went well without which I would have taken the start of the race without any reference ... ".

3.  Hubert+2.361

The first race was delayed to Sunday morning following the change of the Monza programme, the second did not take place. The only Italian event took place in the sunshine. Anthoine made a good start and got away in the lead with two of his teammates, George Russell and Jack Aitken. He took the lead in the race at one point and fought for victory with them, to finally add a third podium to his GP3 record with the 3rd place, contributing to the team title won by ART Grand Prix. Anthoine also signed the best lap in the race. "I made the choice to go with an aggressive strategy to take the lead and try to widen the gap to shelter me from the DRS. Unfortunately, several interventions of the safety car changed my plans and my tyres were too worn in the last laps. I'm happy with this new podium and to have fought for the win, but I'm not satisfied with a 3rd place as victory was possible. This will be my goal in Jerez in a month! ".
