The hungarian mystery

European Championship F3 FIA 2016 - Anthoine Hubert Hungaroring

On the morning of the 20th April, the collective tests took place on the Hungaroring circuit. For this second event of the European F3 Championship 2016 the drives enjoyed a new track, free of skid marks.

Anthoine came in 6th place but without being completely satisfied with the behaviour of his single seater. The afternoon was similar, Anthoine finishing in 9th place, but with a feeling that a lot more could be achieved.

As thursday was the driver's day off, the engineers and mecanics went to work to try en improve the effeciency of the car.

On friday, with 2 free practices and 2 qualifying sessions, the orange and black car performances went downhill and finished with more than 2 secondes on the 2nd qualifying : an enormous gap.

Anthoine started race 1 in 16th but had to abandon half way because of an oil pressure problem. The reason for this loss of pressure couldn't be found out, so it was decided to replace the engine, which consequently involves a 10 place penalty for the next three races.

Anthoine started race 2 and 3 in last position to finish 13th and 14th.

We can't remember another week-end were technical problems had such dramatic consequences. Nevertheless we must move on and let the team and the driver prepare for the next event in Pau from the 13th to 15th May.

In Anthoine's words : …." Such a week end is obviously very difficult for the team and myself. The problem is that we don't understand the lack of performance... We were unlucky with the engine problem which gives us a penalty. However I'm already thinking about the next race in Pau in May. The team did well last year and I have very good memories there with my two F4 victories and two others in Formula Renault! I'm really looking forward to being there and having my true performance level back! ".…
