Sunshine in the East

European Championship F3 FIA 2016 - Norisring (Podium)

We were curious to discover the urban circuit of Nuremberg, a town steeped in history, and we discovered a great event. An inescapable rendez-vous in the DTM Championship for several years now, it lived up to its reputation with 135 000 spectators and sunny weather to top it all.

Right from the free practices on friday morning Anthoine seemed very much at ease on this circuit as his name appeared frequently at the top of the timing screens. He came 5th in the first free pratice and 2nd in the second free practice.

In the first qualifying session Anthoine kept up his good performance but strangely didn't manage to keep the speed until the end of the race, to finish in 13th position.

A little over two hours after the second session, Anthoine improved his performance and obtained first and second place for the start of races 2 and 3.

On Saturday the temperature was high, and for race one, the Team France driver came in 8th place.

In race 2, with a pole position start, Anthoine finished in first place, despite 3 Safety Car interventions, his first victory in this discipline.

On Sunday morning the temperature had cooled down due to storms during the night. This final race, even more than the previous one, was disturbed by lots of accidents and yellow and red flags. Anthoine earned nevertheless his 2nd place.

Two podiums and a high level perfomance this week in Germany is the best reward for Anthoine and the team, which showas that their work has payed off.

In Anthoine's words : …" At last!!! What a satisfaction to be back on the podium and in first place! After a mediocre start of season I'm very pleased that our perseverance and work has payed off. I'd like to thank everyone who supports us starting by the Van Amersfoort Racing team. Now we'll have to continue this way! "…

Before his return to France at the end of the week, Anthoine will be on the Hockenheim circuit on wednesday and thurday for the official practice session, with all the F3 Championship drivers.
